General insurance workflow

Travel health insurance (residence permit)

This is the most common insurance product — required for residence permit applications.

Requirements:

• Must cover the full intended permit duration
• Minimum coverage: typically ₺150,000 inpatient, ₺500 outpatient (verify current thresholds)
• Must be issued by a Turkish insurer or an insurer approved by SGK
• Must name the applicant exactly as on their passport

Workflow notes:

• Issue before permit appointment — immigration officers check the policy
• Confirm coverage dates align with the permit period requested
• Some provinces require the policy to extend 15–30 days beyond the permit end date

DASK (earthquake insurance)

Mandatory for all registered buildings in Türkiye.

Required for:

• Property purchase (required at title transfer / tapu)
• Rental agreements (landlord’s responsibility)
• Some residence permit applications (proof of owned property)

Notes:

• Issued through the DASK system; all insurers access the same DASK platform
• Coverage is standardized; pricing varies by building size and location
• Must be renewed annually

Foreign plate vehicle insurance

For foreign-registered vehicles driven in Türkiye beyond the duty-free period (typically 6 months).

Requirements:

• Vehicle registration document
• Passport
• Confirmation of vehicle use period in Türkiye

Policy renewal

All policies generate a Renewal record in the system. The renewals engine tracks days_until_due and triggers alerts at threshold crossings. See Renewals Engine.
